Where do the Kilimanjaro Climb Beings?

Where do the Kilimanjaro Climb Beings?

Your journey with us to conquer Mount Kilimanjaro begins at Moshi, located at the base of the mountain to its south. A major coffee-producing gateway, Moshi is a short 40-minute drive away from the Kilimanjaro International Airport (airport code – JRO). Transportation is available from the airport to the hotel at any time including early morning or late evening.

On the day of your arrival, you will be received from the airport by our team. Most people like to begin climbing the following morning but it is a good idea to take a rest day before beginning the climb to give your body time to recover from the journey as well as to adapt to the new environment.

If you are planning to cut your budget on travel, then you might come to Tanzania via Nairobi or Dar es Salaam International Airport in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.  Although they are cheaper options, we strongly recommend not to choose these options as getting to Moshi from Nairobi requires an overnight stay in Nairobi, the purchase of a Kenyan visa, and a 7 to 8-hour bus ride which includes crossing a border. Getting to Moshi from Dar es Salaam will also cost you a 7-8 hour bus ride and an overnight stay.

We can also arrange a private vehicle for pick up and drop off in Arusha if needed. Located 50 miles west of Moshi, it is well connected to Moshi with taxis and shuttles readily available for transportation. It takes about 90 minutes to travel the 50-mile distance from Arusha to Mushi.
